A Melody for Tomorrow

I hope you never become ashamed of the way you love.

You have always felt things deeply. You notice when someone has had a long day. You remember the words people say in passing. You give your time even when your own life is full, and you have never been very good at pretending that your heart is not involved.

That is simply how you are.

Sometimes, it has left you wondering whether you care too much. Sometimes, you have tried to make sense of silence, held on to a few good moments, and hoped that a connection was growing in the same direction for both of you.

But I hope you do not let those moments teach you to become colder.

I hope you remain soft.

One day, I hope you create a melody with someone that will last a lifetime.

A lifetime will still have difficult days. You know better than to ask love to protect you from all of them. There will be tired evenings, misunderstandings, changing plans, and seasons that ask more from two people than either of them expected.

I only hope you find someone who wants to face those days with you.

Someone who stays present when things become complicated. Someone who listens before assuming, speaks before distance grows, and sees your tenderness as a place he wants to protect.

I hope your love becomes a home you both keep building.

A home made of ordinary mornings, shared meals, inside jokes, little updates, and the comfort of knowing that after the day has asked everything from you, there is still a person you can come back to.

I hope you both keep choosing each other in ways that are visible.

In the time you make.
In the plans you keep.
In the honesty you offer.
In the care you give when the other person is too tired to ask for it.

You deserve a love where your heart can rest.

You deserve someone who will hear your many “I love yous” and understand that each one is real. Someone who will make you feel safe enough to say what is on your mind without fearing that you will be too much. Someone who will meet your effort with his own, until loving each other feels like something you are carrying together.

And while you wait for that kind of love, keep living.

Keep writing the things that ask to be written. Keep making plans for yourself. Keep finding joy in the people and places that have always made life feel fuller. Keep becoming someone whose own company feels like home.

Love will be beautiful when it comes.

But your life is already happening.

I hope the person you find someday adds to it with kindness, consistency, and a whole heart. I hope he becomes someone you can laugh with, grow with, and grow old beside.

Until then, do not stop believing.

There is nothing foolish about wanting a love that lasts.

There is nothing wrong with hoping that, someday, your heart will find another heart willing to stay in the song with you.

And when that day comes, I hope you still recognize your own voice in the melody—

clear,
loved,
and evermore your own.
