Sometimes, I catch myself hoping that after all the people I have met and all the versions of love I have known, it will be you.
What draws me to this hope is the way loving you allows me to practice the kind of love I have always believed in—one built on freedom, respect, patience, and honesty.
A love that gives us room to remain ourselves, stay grounded in our values, and continue becoming the people we are meant to be.
I would never ask you to abandon your dreams just to keep me close. I want you to pursue the life you have always wanted, even when it leads you toward roads I cannot walk for you.
I want to support the person you are becoming without asking you to make yourself smaller for me.
Your life should never have to revolve around my presence. Before there could ever be an “us,” there was already a “you”—with your own dreams, responsibilities, fears, and hopes.
I want to honor that person.
I love the person I have come to know—the one who laughs, goes quiet, gets tired, becomes busy, and carries things he does not always explain. There is still so much I have yet to learn about you, and I want to leave room for you to tell your own story.
I see more than the moments when you are available to me.
I see you.
When you need space, I am learning to give it without treating your silence as an ending. When you need time, I am learning to respect it without making you feel guilty for moving at a different pace from my heart.
There are days when missing you becomes difficult, when I wish I could ask for more of your time or hear what you are thinking. Still, I remind myself that loving you should never make you feel that you owe me a place in your future.
I do not want my love to feel like another responsibility you have to carry.
I want it to feel like somewhere you can rest.
Still, if I am allowed one honest hope, it is this:
Someday, I hope I no longer have to wonder whether there is a space in your heart where I may stay—a place that feels enough like home.
I hope you make that space willingly. My patience should not become a debt you have to repay. My decision to stay should never be used as a reason for you to choose me.
I simply hope that, in your complete freedom, you will find something in me worth keeping.
Perhaps my presence has reached you in ways I may never fully understand. Perhaps I have made an ordinary day lighter, given you a place where you felt understood, or left something gentle in your life.
I do not know.
What I do know is that if you ever choose me, I want it to come from your own heart.
I hope it is because being beside me feels right—because you enjoy who you are when we are together, and you find yourself wanting to share more of your ordinary days with me.
I would love to be part of those days. Even the uneventful ones. Even when all we do is sit across from each other, busy with our own things, knowing we are welcome there.
Those moments already mean so much to me. Sometimes, I leave with very little to tell anyone about what we did, yet I carry the feeling of having been with you for the rest of the day.
Although I can imagine a life with you, I do not want that life to remain inside my imagination forever.
I want it to become something we both recognize—something clear, safe, and equally wanted.
I hope it is you.
I have prayed deeply for this. I have spoken your name in prayers you may never hear and entrusted hopes to Him that I sometimes struggle to put into words.
I pray for your well-being, for the things you are working toward, and for strength on the days you have more to carry than you let people see.
And yes, I pray for the possibility of us.
I bring that hope to Him honestly, while leaving the answer in His hands.
If your feelings ever lead you toward me, I hope we can speak about them openly. I would love to know what a beginning feels like when we are both ready for it.
There would still be things to learn, difficult conversations to have, and days when we might misunderstand each other. But I hope we would both be willing to listen, to speak honestly, and to care for what we chose to begin.
I hope we never need to lose ourselves just to belong together. I want us to have our separate dreams, our own spaces, and days we choose to face on our own—and still find our way back to each other.
Perhaps one day, we will look at the lives we have built and realize that somewhere along the way, we began making room for one another.
A little more time. A place at the table. Someone to call when the day has been difficult. Plans that gradually began to include each other.
Two people who remained whole and still found something worth coming home to.
I love you freely, and I have tried to let you know that from the beginning.
My love does not ask you to promise me a lifetime before you are ready. I hope you can receive it for what it is—honest, imperfect, and given sincerely.
I am certain about you. Certain that I want to know you more, that I value the time we share, and that my hope for us comes from something real within me.
And somewhere within that certainty lives my quietest hope:
That one day, you will tell me about your plans, and I will hear my name among them.
Until then, I am grateful for the moments we already share. They matter to me, even while I hope for more.
With all sincerity.
